The weather could not have been more perfect for the 2019 Downlands Summer Fayre. Under the beautiful blue sky, with the South Downs as a backdrop the Downlands School Association put on a perfect summer fair. With bouncy castles and a dog show, stunt bicycle demonstrations (Sam Meeten in Year 8) and beat the goalie, burgers and vegetarian Indian food (prepared by the Eco Forum), Pimms and beer (thank you Bedlam Brewery and Harveys of Lewes), strawberries and cream and delicious cakes, rock bands and dance performances, hair brading and mystery boxes – the fayre had it all! It was lovely afternoon filled with laughter and fun.
Thank you to the fantastic Downlands School Association, all the volunteers who helped make the event so special, the companies who donated prizes to the raffle or goods to the stalls, the students who ran stalls (thank you to the mums and dads who stayed and helped!), the students who performed and the staff who gave up their Saturday to help too. We raised over £6000 which will go to help renovate the school hall later in the year. We also raised £48.20 for CLIC Sargent & £41.20 for Chestnut Tree House with our remembrance stall. Thanks to Freeman Brothers for the Forget Me Not seeds!
