Christmas @ Downlands!

A very big thank you to all the Technology department staff who put on a lovely Festive Technology evening on Thursday. This event is so popular – the waiting list is very long every year and we are always sad to disappoint so many families. However, the students who were pulled out of a hat and did attend had a wonderful evening creating festive treats in Textiles, Resistant Materials and Food Technology. There was mince pies too – just to keep everyone going – a lovely way to get in the Christmas spirit.

The Year 7 students were then treated to ‘A Christmas Carol’ workshop – thank you to all the families who helped us put this on. It is a wonderful way to bring Dickens to life for our young students.

The amazingly enthusiastic Global Ambassadors delivered all our donations to the Burgess Hill Food bank last week too. Again, thank you to you all for your donations – we are sure it will bring a smile to many families this Christmas.

Mr Hunnable and Mr Smith are currently seeking a home for their home made reindeer. They are selling £1 raffle tickets in tutor time and all proceeds will go to the homeless charity Crisis.

Ms Pryor has organised a Christmas Jumper day – wear your festive woollies for a £1 on Friday 20 December (last day of term). All monies will go to the St Peter and St James Hospice. Remember school finishes at 1.25pm on the last day of the autumn term.

Orders for Christmas lunch on Wednesday 18 December are now closed. The draw for the Christmas Raffle will also be on Wednesday 18 December – so make sure you return your tickets soon.
