***School Closure Advice***

School Closure Contingency Plans

In the event of school closure the following protocols will be implemented:

Expectations

  • we expect students to complete all work set
  • ideally students require access to a Chromebook/laptop/PC and internet access. If this is not practical students would still be able to access work from their smart devices and the Office Apps which are freely downloadable for Downlands students
  • please contact us via the school office as soon as possible if you require support with this

Staff will:

  • check school emails for updated advice
  • send work and resources for students according to the normal timetable
  • send work by 9am each day to students via class email accounts
  • copy all class work to Faculty leaders
  • staff will monitor their email accounts between the hours of 9am and 3.45pm
  • work set should take approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Year 10 will be directed to complete extra work in line with GCSE requirements
  • support staff will monitor emails during their contracted hours
  • use Remote Access to log in to the school network in order to access resources
    ensure they have a device that enables working from home. Staff requiring a device should contact ICT Support

Students will:

  • check their email account at 9am every day to view the work set by their class teacher
  • complete the work set at the time of their timetabled lessons
  • submit work to teachers as required
  • Contact IT@downlands.org if they have any issues with logins

Parents will:

  • check for emails from the school for updated advice
  • check their children’s timetable on the SIMS Parent App
  • direct students to complete the work for the day according to their timetable
  • contact simsparentapp@downlands.org with any SIMS Parent App issues
