From the Romans to modern history, the history curriculum is vibrant and interesting. We start in year 7 by looking at historical skills by investigating the sinking of the Titanic, we then journey through the middle ages, looking at the Battle of Hastings; which changed England drastically and what impact that had on the British people. Year 8 uncovers the tensions between the people and the King and the consequences of the English Civil War, moving on to discover what it would have been like to live and work in the industrial period and how this changed England. Each topic focuses on a specific historical skill, be it constructing an argument or evaluating historical evidence. We also try to bring history into the 21st Century, by comparing these historical events to the world in which we live today.
Year 9 begin their GCSE content, by assessing changes in the medicine throughout history. Medicine through time explores change and continuity through different historical periods; Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial and Twentieth Century. We investigate what caused development in medicine and look at why discoveries, inventions and breakthroughs were so significant.
