Downlands is delighted to have maintained its strong position with another set of excellent results. The progress of students from their starting points at the end of KS2 is now seen as the most important and fair measure for all schools and Downlands are especially pleased as early indications show our students performed well above national expectations. The old and familiar measure and current figure for 5A*- C including English and Mathematics is 76%. Also outstanding is the total of A*/A grades at 27% of all entries.
Rose Hetherton Headteacher, said, “I am absolutely delighted for our students, this year group worked immensely hard throughout their two years and in their preparation for upwards of 20 examination papers, the pressure and stress they have experienced makes me even more proud of their achievements across the board. Most pleasing as always were the successes of the pupils from across the whole ability range who have done well and reached and exceeded their targets.Their teachers must also be thanked for the outstanding preparation and support they gave to their pupils. Taking this all into consideration they have brought results that are beyond even our high expectations. 9 pupils achieved 10 or more A* A grades with a total of 27% of all entries achieving these top grades. Special mention must go to Joe Anderson with 7A*, 5 A’s, Hayley Hilson 8A*, 2A’s, Amelia Forman 8A*, 2A’s,Hannah Forman 9A*, Lucy Simpson 8A*, 4A’s, Drew Springham 8A*, 3A’s and Billy Twigge-Molecey 8A*, 4A’s. A much deserved set of results for a memorable year group, well done to you all.”
