Facemasks in Schools

The guidance on wearing facemasks in schools is evolving. Currently Nick Gibb, the schools minister, has said that children are not expected to wear facemasks in school, as they will be with people they see daily.

However, children should wear facemasks on public transport, when encountering people they do not normally see. Yesterday the World Health Organisation said that children aged 12 and over should wear masks to help tackle the pandemic.

We at Downlands are reviewing the situation. We expect further guidance to be issued by the government in the next few days and we will be updating parents and carers before the start of term.
