Student Roles at Downlands
All Prefect Roles
Sports Leaders
Sports leaders are appointed at the end of Year 9. They play a vital role in the PE Department in Year 10 assisting with extra curricular activities both at lunchtime and after school. Students have the opportunity to assist with numerous primary competitions and festivals from Year 7 onwards and act as excellent role models.
Language Leaders
Language Leaders are appointed in the beginning of year 9 and have the opportunity to teach year 7 students at Downlands and Windmills Primary students throughout the year. They offer lessons about culture and festivals in German, French and Spanish speaking countries and teach key topic vocabulary through a range of activities and games.
Science Ambassadors
Students volunteer to help run STEM evenings where they demonstrate some fun practicals. They also visit local primary school and work with the younger children.
Librarians
Students in all years have the opportunity to join our Pupil Librarian team and work in our wonderful library at breaks and lunchtimes. It is a very important, popular role and there is a waiting list to join.
